!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Ok this is a becoming a “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” type situation now.
Cars today have tons of features. So touch screens and infotainment systems without buttons are all the rage today, party out of necessity.
If you were to give almost every feature a button, it would look something like the current Porsche’s cluttered-yet-pretty center console.
So what the hell are we as buyers supposed to do if we like the tactile feel of buttons that we can press while our eyes are on the road, but still don’t want to live in buttonsville?

That’s a bummer, one of the reasons I really like the current Panamera is the aircraft level of buttons. Suppose it’s not a surprise though, that’s “progress” right?

Not surprising. when they unveiled the 918 they announced that the center stack was a portent of things to come with future Porsches.

Yep. First the new Boxster, now this.
Not that I’m a huge Panamera fan, but I know this will trickle down to other Porcshes too

Oh....I didn’t realize that.
And no one reviewing the 918 spent more that a couple of seconds exploring the infotainment system - for obvious reasons lol
So I’m not really sure if or how this is better/worse than buttons.

side profile kinda resembles the a7, because VAG

Fun Fact: Porsche Panamera was offered with a manual

I’d rather have the RS7.
I know the two cars aren’t exactly comparable when it comes to driving dynamics. But the A7/S7/RS7 doesn’t look like a “personal massager” to me, which is very important lol

I knew they made it in Manual, I just didn’t realize they stopped.
In all honestly, I’m not in love with the Panamera because of the exterior styling.

I can just imagine the meeting that decided this;
Marketing Guy 1: Buttons work but are too normal, we need a different way to do the controls on the new Panamera.
Marketing Guy 2: Well, Cadillac is using touch sensitive buttons to control various functions of the car.
Marketing Guy 1: Hmm, interesting, how is it being received?
Marketing Guy 2: Poorly, people really dislike it.
Marketing Guy 1: Excellent, let’s do that.
Marketing Guy2: wut...

autonomous cars, so you’ll have all the time in the world to look at those buttons.

I think in person it works a lot better than in pictures. Also, with every small redesign it has improved on the looks department IMO.

The new Panameras look a lot better than the first Panameras, but I still don’t like them as much.
Even if the touch controls are functional, digging through menus will become inevitable with this design...
